In this small-group altar workshop, you will create a one-of-a-kind ceramic altar using forms, templates, and design approaches developed in the instrucor's studio. This is a guided, hands-on experience designed to help you make a piece that feels intentional, personal, and meant to live in your home.
We will work with a dark red clay body selected for it's rich texture and natural color.
Choose from the instructor's personal studio glazes, each selected to complement the clay bodies and enhance the surface without overpowering the material itself. Each piece will be finished with care after the workshop, honoring the form, and adding glaze.
Throughout the workshop, you will be guided through:
- Form building and composition using the instructor's original templates
- Surface design and subtle detailing
- Structural decisions that support both function and longevity
- Refinement and finishing touches
You'll receive hands-on instruction, individualized feedback, and thoughtful guidance at each stage of the process. Pieces are professionally fired after the workshop and finished to highlight the natural beauty of the clay.
No prior clay experience is necessary. This workshop is ideal for beginners and returning students who want to create a meaningful object with care and intention.
This workshop will take place at Meanwhile Brewing, creating a relaxed and inspiring setting for slow, tactile play with clay. Drinks and food are available for purchase onsite.
Finished work will be ready for pickup in ~5–6 weeks. Shipping is also available for an additional fee.
