Berliner Weiss is a German wheat beer that is refreshing, low-alcohol, and has a noticeable lactic sourness. The sourness is produced by lactic acid bacteria and can range from slightly tart to mouth puckering tart. The sourness should dominate this style, but can have a slight bready/wheat malt character. There should be no bitterness or hop character. This style is commonly flavored, but can be served on its own which is equally delicious.
